Main used battery in electric vehicle application. Major advantages are low cost, good cycle life, easy to recycle. Disadvantages are low energy density and heavy weight. Small electric vehicles with low voltage drive system are best served with a flooded product, preferably a thin tubular plate product. Higher voltage systems and all hybrid vehicles should be fitted with Valve regulated batteries. Gel technology is best in cycle life, where Agm batteries perform better at high current discharge.

The Battery Monitoring System (BMS) gives essential battery information which includes: the number of charge/discharge cycles, temperature and electrolyte low level timings amongst others. All this information can then be downloaded to a PC for further evaluation.
The Battery Management Unit (BMU) can control batteries having voltages from 24V to 96V. The BMU is capable of storing a set of parameters for a number of cycles. These parameters also include the ones mentioned above for the Battery Monitoring System. The BMU has an external temperature sensor as well as an optional external level sensor for flooded battery applications. The data from the BMU can be transferred to a PC via a number of ways namely RS232, USB, GPRS, Bluetooth and Wifi. |

This is an innovative concept which offers a modular battery box to facilitate installation and reduce the number of connectors required. This comes from the length to width ratio allowing any direction of assembling.
An optional feature is an electronic management system which controls battery operations. This module also stores a number of parameters which can also be then transferred to a PC.
